The Shrewsbury Patriots Division 12 cheerleaders are headed for national championship competition in Orlando, Fla.

Shrewsbury – For the second year in a row, the Shrewsbury Patriots Division 12 cheerleaders are heading to national championship competition. The Division 12 team, coached by Erly Scott, is the first Shrewsbury team to attend Nationals for two consecutive years.

After placing first in the American Youth Cheerleading (AYC) local competition in Lowell, the D12 team was up against tough competitors from Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Connecticut at the AYC Regional Competition held in Manchester, N.H. Nov. 22. The girls placed second, earning a spot at the 2014 AYC National Championship which will be held in Orlando, Fla. Thursday, Dec. 13 and Friday, Dec. 14.

The team will be fundraising for their trip on the mornings of Saturday, Dec. 6 and Sunday, Dec. 7 at Flynn’s Truck Stop, Dunkin Donuts and 7/11.

The team includes: Ashley Freud, Samara Moriarty, Caroline Foley, Lina Richard, Amelia Mancini, Jacquie Chignola, Phoebe Thuot, Isabella Scricco, Cailin Butler, Jordan Jarvi, Victoria Scott, Madden Brown, Sofia Caccialino, and Aryssa Demers.

Molly Butler and Leann Kirwin are assistant coaches and Megan Gasper is a student demonstrator.
