Obit Dick KaneNorthborough – Richard Edmund Kane Sr. passed away at his home Monday, Dec. 1, 2014 at the age of 86. Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Joan; his daughter, Kathleen; and his brother, Carol.

He is survived by his son, Rick Kane; daughter-in-law, Lisa; one grandson, Justin, and two granddaughters, Paige and Kayleigh, all from Hudson; and his sister, Margaret Stenberg of Minot, N.D.

Born in Alliance, Neb., Dick attended the University of Wyoming and then headed east, working in the Pittsburgh area until 1978 when he made the move to Northborough where he remained for over 30 years.

He worked first as an engineer and later as plant manager for Westinghouse Electric Co. and later ASEA Brown Boveri.

Dick was a devoted member of the IEEE, an active member of the community, serving in town government, and also an active church member at St. Rose of Lima parish.

He enjoyed movies, travel, and working on home improvement projects, with a particular talent in carpentry.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014, from 5-7 p.m., at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Northborough. His funeral Mass of Resurrection will be held Friday, Dec. 5, at 10 a.m., in St. Rose of Lima Church, 244 West Main St., Northborough. Burial will follow in the Howard Street Cemetery.
