Shrewsbury council awards cultural grants

Shrewsbury – The Shrewsbury Cultural Council (SCC) has announced the award of 17 grants totaling $7,441 to help support a variety of cultural programs offered locally during 2015. Eight grants received total funding and nine received partial funding due to the limited funds available to the SCC.

Grant recipients are: Shrewsbury Public Library (three grants), Fruitlands Museum, Symphony Pro Musica, Shrewsbury Historical Society, Centre Stage Productions, Walter J. Paton School, Arts on the Green, Master Singers of Worcester, Worcester Chamber Music Society, Northborough Area Community Chorus, Assabet Valley Mastersingers, Essence of India, Floral Street School, Audio Journal and Regatta Players.

The Shrewsbury Cultural Council is one of 329 cultural councils in Massachusetts. It functions under the authority of the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC), which will receive $10,703,000 in state funds in 2015 for distribution to the local councils. The local councils support art, science and humanities programming which includes, funding school field trips, concerts, theatrical productions, science projects and other cultural events.
