Region – Valiant Veterans, with the help of its two service dogs, have been gathering donations for area homeless veterans. In Worcester on Saturday, Dec. 20, over $40,000 of donated items will be packed into more than 300 holiday gift bags. Donations were collected from people all across the country through the Facebook pages of service dog Corporal Gunnar and service dog in training Scout to support the mission “Loving Veterans to Life.” All bags will be filled with essential items, such as hats, gloves and scarves and handmade candy donated by Hebert Candies. The bags will also include Christmas cards made by fellow veterans and fans at the New England Patriots Salute to Service game Nov. 23. They will be packed by young members of the military belonging to a military fraternity so that they can give back to those that served before them.

Holiday bags will be delivered to the New England Center for Homeless Veterans Monday Dec. 22, with Gunnar and Scout accompanied by 15 members of a military fraternity. Following the delivery, the group will head to the USS Constitution to provide a Christmas
