Westborough – The Wachusett Regional High School Mountaineers boys’ hockey team defeated the Westborough High School Rangers 3-1 in the Borough’s Cup final, in a game played Dec. 20 at NorthStar Ice Sports. This was the fourth year in a row that the Mountaineers have taken home the Borough’s Cup.
The Mountaineers scored once in each of the first two periods, on goals by Aidan Rolli and Sam Pridotkas. Senior Stephen Falvey scored the Ranger’s lone goal with 4:01 remaining in the game. Tanyon Ventres scored an empty net goal with 0:10 remaining in the game to seal the win for the Mountaineers.
Westborough goalie Jared Ward had 21 saves for the Rangers and Wachusett goalie Andrew Carter had 20 saves for the Mountaineers.
Earlier in the evening, Algonquin defeated Marlborough 3-0 in the consolation game.
