Marlborough – During the holidays, it’s never easy to be away from friends and family. For those serving in the armed forces in places such as Afghanistan, it can be especially difficult. But thanks to the generosity of Marlborough Hospital employees, local soldiers, who are currently serving overseas, will have a bit of hometown holiday cheer this year.
Over the past month, employees put together special care packages filled with snacks, toiletries, games and notes of encouragement to let the soldiers know they remain in everyone’s thoughts and hearts. An anonymous donor then paid for the packages to be shipped to Afghanistan.
According to Ellen Carlucci, vice president of marketing, the hospital hopes to make this an annual tradition.
