Westborough – Police Chief Alan Gordon released this statement this evening:
On 1/6/15, at approximately 2:14 PM, the Westborough Police Department received a call reporting an accident involving two school buses on Lyman St. at Chauncy St.
The arriving units located two school buses from Algonquin Regional High School with damage. The accident was a rear end collision which occurred when the first bus was stopping to allow a student off at Chauncy St. The second bus collided with the rear of that bus sustaining significant front end damage. Both buses are owned by First Student Inc. Both buses were full of students heading home from school. They were all checked out by the school nurse and Westborough Fire Paramedics. There were no injuries. All students were either transferred to another bus or released to their parents who responded to the scene.
The first bus was being operated by Jean R. Chatelain age 61 of 20 Winsor Rd. Medford. She was operating a 2012 International bus. The second operator was identified as Matthew J. Nolan, age 63 of 26 Woodridge Rd. Holden. He was operating a 2008 International bus. Neither driver were injured.
The accident is being investigated by Off. Cliff Luce.
