Westborough – Dr. Eva Yampey de Araya, 81, of Westborough, passed away peacefully Monday, Jan. 5, 2015 at the UMass/Memorial Healthcare-University Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Rev. Jose Araya.
Born in Qui-indy, Paraguay, she was the daughter of the late Adolfo and Lorenza (Florencio) Yampey. She was educated in Asuncion, Paraguay, and became a Doctor of Dental Sciences at the Universidad Nacional de Asuncion, 1969.
Dr. Araya was an orthodontist for many years. She had resided in the United States since 1973, residing in Bridgeport, Conn. and currently in Westborough.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by five sons and their families, Adolfo and Mary Araya, and children Joseph, Benjamin, and Steffani of Westborough; Jose Dario and Janette Araya, and children Daniel, Gregory, and Lauren of Westborough; Jacinto Araya and daughters Eva and Gabriela of Delran, N.J.; Victor and Teresa Araya, and children Patrick, Katherine, and Grace of Ambler, Penn.; and Arturo and Susanna Araya, and children Elisabetta and Morgan of Madison, N.J. She is also survived by her siblings, Moises Yampey, Mohamed Yampey, Yalili Yampey de Gregor, and Lorenza Yampey de Araya.
Her funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan. 10, at 10:30 a.m., in the First United Methodist Church, 120 West Main St., Westborough. The family will be available to greet friends at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Luke’s Cemetery. Calling hours at the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, are Friday, Jan. 9, from 5-8 p.m.
