Obit Patricia CookShrewsbury – Patricia Rhudy Cook, of Shrewsbury, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015 at UMass Memorial Medical Center after an illness. She was 54.

Patricia was born March 25, 1960 in Shelbyville, Tenn., a daughter of Patricia Pitts and the late Rev. James Rhudy. Raised and educated in Tullahoma, Tenn., she graduated from Tullahoma High School with the class of 1978. She then earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Middle Tennessee State University in 1984. She married Jonathan Hale Cook May 25, 1985 in Trinity Lutheran Church in Tullahoma, Tenn. They moved to Rhode Island in 1986 and Shrewsbury in 1999.

She was working as a school bus driver for A.A. Transportation in Shrewsbury.

Her interests varied. She was talented with needlecrafts: sewing, knitting, and occasional crocheting. She was a troop leader for the Girl Scouts in Shrewsbury, as well as an active Girl Scout throughout her childhood, and had a keen interest in family genealogy. She also had a passion for American history and was a member of the Col. Timothy Bigelow chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

In addition to her husband of 29 years, Jonathan, she leaves her children, Christopher Cook, Andrew Cook, and Grace Cook, all of Shrewsbury; her mother, Patricia Rhudy of Tullahoma, Tenn.; her siblings, James Rhudy and his wife Sheila, of Maine, Anna Rhudy of Kansas, Linda Rhudy of Tennessee, and Mary Rhudy of Tennessee; and nieces and nephews, David Rhudy of Heckington, England, Sonya Ladadok of Oregon, Mary Ashmore of Nevada, and Melanie Rhudy of Virginia.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Patricia’s life Friday, Jan. 16, 2015 in St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 110 E Lincoln St., Tullahoma, Tenn., where her memorial service will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Burial will be private.

Memorials in Patricia’s name may be made to the Daughters of the American Revolution or the Community of St. Mary, Southern Province, 1100 St. Mary’s Ln., Sewanee, TN 37375.
