Southborough – Ramon Alan, 89, of Southborough, and formerly of Lexington, died at his home Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Lucille (Perlmutter) Alan, to whom he was married for 69 years.
Born in Paterson, N.J., he was the son of the late Samuel and Ethel (Frocht) Lifsitz. He was a graduate of Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. and worked for many years as an engineer for the Mitre Corporation in Bedford.
Ramon was passionate in his pursuit of engineering and took great pleasure in encouraging this same passion in others. He was an avid skier and sailor, and was a skilled builder of his own sailboats.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by son Michael Alan and his wife Charlotte of Methuen; son Robert Alan of Southborough; daughter-in-law Marie Alan of North Grafton; sister Ina Katcher of New York; brother-in-law Mort Parker and his wife Jan of Needham; grandchildren Rebecca and Jason Alan of North Grafton; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services and burial will be private. Arrangements are under the care of the Morris Funeral Home of Southborough.
