Westborough – The Westborough High School Rangers and the Algonquin Regional High School Tomahawks boys’ ice hockey teams skated to a 2-2 tie in a game Jan. 19 at North Star Ice Sports.
The Rangers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by junior Jacob Uhlman and freshman Jonathan Rodenbush. Paul Luongo scored late in the first period for the Tomahawks to get them on the scoreboard. Brian Ward tied the game for the Tomahawks with a goal at 6:27 in the second period.
Jared Ward had 29 saves in goal for Westborough, while Trevor Ryan had 28 saves for Algonquin. Algonquin’s record now stands at 7-2-2 while Westborough’s record is now 4-4-1.
