Shrewsbury Education Foundation hosts annual recognition dinner

Shrewsbury – The Shrewsbury Education Foundation (SEF), an all-volunteer organization that raises money to fund grants which put resources and programs directly into the classroom, hosted its 22nd annual Fundraising and Grants Award Dinner at Cyprian Keyes Golf Club Jan. 24. Despite a snowy evening, the dining room was filled to capacity and those in attendance celebrated and honored all of the 2014 award recipients.

Jason Ponticelli, Kristen Stewich, Deidra Lincoln, Laureen McGourty, Melissa Johnson, Lisa Cantin, Angelina Ciccantelli, Michelle Lemay, Miya Hanna, Carol Virzi, Kristine Gustafson and Ann Early were awarded funding for unique learning experiences and resources that will directly benefit students.

The John P. Collins award recipients were Todd Bazydlo, Andrea Collins, Lynn Skavis, Maura Egan, Kelly O’Connell, Brenda Filiere, Pamela Johnson and Patricia Tighe, who were honored for their exemplary efforts which bring to life the mission of the Shrewsbury Public Schools: “to provide students with the skills and knowledge for the 21st century, an appreciation of our democratic tradition, and the desire to continue to learn throughout life.”

Shrewsbury Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Joseph Sawyer received the SEF Community Service Award for going above and beyond in delivering outstanding services to the community and the Shrewsbury Public Schools.
