Region – It has been an amazing two weeks of wintry weather with the region receiving near records amounts of snow and temperatures barely getting above 30 degrees. According to Weather Specialist James Arnold, Shrewsbury has gotten 71.2 inches of snow and the Worcester Airport has gotten 76.3 inches of snow since Jan. 24.

Municipalities are struggling to not only remove snow but to find places to then put it. Although children are happy for extra days off from school, officials (and parents, who have had to miss work) are worried how so many snow days will eventually be made up. As they did two years ago, homeowners and businesses not only have to plow their driveways and parking lots; they also have to worry about snow on roofs which could cause possible collapses.

Adding to everyone’s worries? Winter is not nearly over yet. And as Arnold warns, “extremely cold weather” is right on our doorstep and as of Feb. 9, another two storms possibly on the way.
