Hudson – Hudson firefighter Christopher M. Devoe graduated from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy’s Career Recruit Firefighting Training Program in a ceremony Feb. 27 at the Department of Fire Services in Stow.
The 24 graduates of the 224th class, all men, represent the 18 fire departments of Billerica, Clinton, Cotuit, Dracut, Dudley, Hudson, Hyannis, Ludlow, Mashpee, Maynard, Methuen, North Reading, Peabody, Plymouth, Taunton, Weston, Wilmington and Woburn.
“This rigorous professional training provides our newest firefighters with the basic skills to perform their jobs effectively and safely,” said State Fire Marshal Stephen D. Coan who presided over the ceremony with Firefighting Academy Director George D. Kramlinger. The guest speaker was retired Wakefield Fire Chief David Parr. The Massachusetts Firefighting Academy, a division of the Department of Fire Services, offers this 45-day program tuition-free.
