Marlborough – Marlborough resident Pat Pazzaneze will be inducted into the Boys and Girls Club of Metrowest Hall of Fame Tuesday, March 17, at the Sheraton Framingham Hotel. Pazzaneze has been an honorary member of the organization for 40 years. She was the Board of Director’s secretary for many years before retiring two years ago.
Her lifelong dedication to the Boys & Girls Club started back in 1975 when her husband passed away from a brain tumor at 49. She raised her 15-year-old son by herself and worked two to three jobs on an ongoing basis. At the club, a friend asked her to join the Mother’s Club which entailed helping children with their homework, holiday events, playing games and teaching social skills. Now, the club currently has additional programs in technology, physical education, social recreation, the arts and prevention programs.
Pazzaneze instantly fell in love with the Boys and Girls Club and became heavily involved in sponsoring children if they could not afford the membership fee.
“There are so many families in society that cannot afford to send all of their children to the club,” she said. “Every child should not be denied into the club no matter what their financial or social standing in society.”
She was a regular volunteer, supervising many Bingo nights to generate money for educational programs.
“We are blessed in having many lovely people who have generously dedicated their time for the children,” she said. “The parents can feel very secure that their children are at a safe and comfortable place where there children can grow and learn life skills.”
At 83 years old, Pazzaneze now spends some of her time helping her son’s business in Hudson and enjoying activities with her grandchildren.
