    School: Saint John’s

    Year: 2015

    Sport: Hockey

    Coach: Michael Mead

Notables: Assistant captain, in the top 10 in points with 12 on the season.

    By Ryan Massad, Contributing Writer

What are your earliest hockey-related memories?

“My earliest hockey memories are playing for mites and squirts. I remember all the tournaments we played in, especially the Lake Placid Can Am tournament we participated in.”

Who encouraged you to get into hockey, and succeed at it?

“My dad was extremely encouraging when I was younger, and throughout my high school career. All of my coaches and teammates along the way were also very influential.”

What was it like to be a part of the Saint John’s squad this season?

“The St. John’s team this year was very young, but it was a fun group of guys to be with. We had a bit of a tough year but we stuck together as a team and enjoyed playing together.”

What has been the single most special game during your young hockey career?

“The single most special game of my hockey career was probably the 2014 playoff game against Burlington. We knew they were previously the state champions, and wanted to follow in their footsteps. We were able to play well together and got the win. This was my first career playoff game, and being able to win made it even more special.”

What would you consider to be the best part of your game?

“I think the best part of my game is my leadership and determination.”

Will you be playing hockey at the college level next year?

“I am going to play baseball for Holy Cross next year, but I may consider trying out for the club hockey team as well.”

What legacy would you like to leave behind at SJ?

“I want to leave behind a strong image. I want to be seen as a good leader and someone who works hard for their team. Hockey especially, is a team game, and I want to be remembered as the best teammate.”

What is your favorite NHL team and who is your favorite player?

“My favorite NHL team is the New York Rangers because I grew up in New York through freshman year of high school. My favorite player is Rangers forward Chris Kreider, because he is a talented young kid who works extremely hard.”

What is your favorite type of music, and artist in that genre?

“My favorite type of music is country, and my favorite group is Florida George Line.”

What is your favorite class in school, and why?

“My favorite class in school is either environmental science or economics. I have an interest in both subjects, and love to learn about the environment and the economy.”
