Marlborough – Randi Isaacson, the owner of the Post Road Art Center, had a vision to host a show where “the artists were to create works of art that showed the inspiration of a ‘Great or Famous’ artist.” She noted that she was not sure what the reaction would be, but decided to “put the idea out there.”
“There wasn’t much chatter, not many questions or emails, and as the drop-off began, not much was coming in?. and then BAM!” she recalled. “We got the most fabulous works. Incredibly delightful creative works of art that easily show where the inspiration is from, and yet they are unique and wonderful on their own.”
A total of 59 pieces ranging from oil paintings, ink drawings and pottery were entered into the show which was judged by Bob Collins of School of the Museum of Fine Arts and the Danforth Museum. “Sequidille,” a mixed medium piece by Jodie Apeseche won first place, while the drawing “Self Portrait with Dali,” by Pearl McCarthy came in second and the oil painting, “Clair,” by Charlie Holt came in third. All of the works of art may now be viewed on the center’s website, www.postroadartcenter.com.
