What inspired you to get involved with the track team?
“At first, it was to stay in shape after soccer season, but it ended up becoming my primary sport, and it’s something that I love to do.”
To what or whom do you attribute your success?
“The number one reason for my success in track would be the fantastic coaching staff. They have taught me everything that I know, and made me love what I do. My mind is set on competing, and when I set my mind to something, I accomplish it. I push out the nerves, and I’m in competitive mode until the end of the meet.”
You do outdoor track as well. What has been your single most-special moment during your high school career? Either indoors or out.
“Outdoor season during my junior year, I finally broke 100 feet in javelin, and placed eighth in the state with a distance of 102 feet, 2 inches.”
What do you like to do in your free time?
“Track takes up hours on end, but when I’m not practicing, my friends are my first priority.”
Have you decided on a college yet for next year, and will you be partaking in track at that level?
“I will be attending Duquesne University in the fall, and I would love to continue my track career there.”
What kind of music do you like?
“I take pride in the wide variety of music I listen to. Nothing specific. Anything with a good beat.”
What is your favorite class in school, and why?
“My favorite class in school is chemistry. In college, I’ll be majoring in pharmaceutical science, which has a lot to do with chemistry. To me, it’s amazing how you can create something out of nothing, and it could potentially cure millions of people.”
What legacy would you like to leave behind at Shrewsbury High School?
“Track is seen as a sport that people do just to look good on a college application, but I want to leave behind the legacy of hard work. I was always the first one at practice, and the last one to leave, and I want everyone at SHS to remember how dedicated I was to the sport that I loved.”
