Hudson – Holy Week will be celebrated at First Federated Church, 200 Central St., with a series of services, beginning with Palm Sunday March 29 and culminating with Easter Sunday, April 5.
On Palm Sunday, March 29, palms will be distributed at the 10:30 a.m. worship service in remembrance of Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Also at 10:30, the children are invited to participate in an Easter egg hunt on the church grounds.
On Thursday, April 2, (Maundy Thursday), join First Federated at 7 p.m. for a quiet, contemplative Tenebrae Service, where communion will be served, several scriptures will be read, and candles will be extinguished reflecting Christ’s sufferings, betrayal, and death. On Good Friday, April 3, a service will be held at noon followed by a simple meatless luncheon served indoors.
And, Easter Sunday, April 5, the church will hold a 6 a.m. sunrise service, led by Dr. Virginia Gray, at the cross on the hill behind the church, weather permitting. In the case of inclement weather, the service will be held inside. An Easter breakfast will follow at approximately 6:30 a.m. The Easter service celebrating the Lord’s resurrection will be held later that morning at 10:30 a.m.
