Hudson – Members of the Highland City Striders (HCS) ran a green streak March 17 in its annual St. Patrick’s Day Fun Run, an untimed 3.17-mile course beginning and ending at Finnegan’s Pub.

Along the way they made stops for holiday hydration at the home of Anne Marie and Nick Lourens, co-directors of the Hudson Community Food Pantry, and at the Hudson-Concord Elks Lodge 959. Once hydrated, they took part in sing-alongs with tunes such as “Whiskey in the Jar,” “The Wild Rover” and “Drunken Sailor.”

Festivities continued when they returned to Finnegan’s Pub. There, winners were chosen and announced of a drawing held as part of the fundraising effort of HCS member Dan Milton of Hudson. He needed to collect at least $3,200 to run in the London Marathon, which benefits disadvantaged youth worldwide through the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. Milton exceeded his goal and raised $3,643.

The drawing winners of six prizes were: Al Del Re of Northborough, a Garmin watch with a heart monitor donated by PR Running in Westborough; Jim McKenna of Hudson, a $50 gift certificate to Wildwood Steakhouse in Marlborough; Matt Cormier of Marlborough, a $33 gift card to Rail Trail Flatbread Co. in Hudson; Bill Cosgrove of Worcester, and Del Re, each a $25 gift certificate to Marx Running & Fitness Center in Acton;; and Steve Biehl of Sterling, a $10 gift card to Ariba Coffee in Hudson.
