Marlborough – The reappointment of Chair Kelley French and Michael Gibson and the appointment of Sharon Buckley to the city’s Youth Commission were approved by the City Council at the March 23 meeting. The mission of the Youth Commission is to enhance the quality of life for city youth through an ongoing assessment of needs, evaluation of programs provided by the city, private sector and nonprofit organizations, and recommendations regarding changes in programming designed to better meet the needs of the city’s youth.
Also approved by councilors were Mayor Arthur Vigeant’s recommendations to reappoint Mark Gibbs as the city’s Information Technology Department director and Cynthia Panagore Griffin as assistant city solicitor, both for three-year terms.
At the recommendation of the Personnel Committee, chaired by Councilor Robert Tunnera, councilors also approved Greg Mitrakas and David Bouvier to the License Board for six-year terms, Pat Gallier to the Council on Aging Board, Paul Sliney as the tenant’s representative on the Community Development Authority, David Manzella as principal assessor for a three-year term, and Robert Camacho as building commissioner for three years from date of approval.
In other business, councilors left the meeting to hold an executive session to discuss a special permit dispute involving a property on South Street.
