Northborough – As a resident of Northborough for the past 21 years, Michelle Gillespie, a Realtor with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices N.E. Prime Properties, knows how to market her town.
But thanks to her extremely varied and committed volunteer efforts over the past two decades, Gillespie is well qualified to sell not just in Northborough but in communities throughout the region.
For the past 12 years she has served on Northborough’s Planning Board, has chaired the Applefest Committee for the past seven years, and is a member of the Community Preservation and Design Review committees. As she was raising her family, she served on her children’s schools’ parent-teacher organizations and volunteered with their sports associations and booster clubs.
That expertise and knowledge, she said, is a valuable asset when she works with her clients as they navigate what can often be a challenging process of buying or selling a home. She also believes in using a multi-pronged approached in her marketing efforts.
“I use traditional methods such as print but also use social media,” she said. “I also use direct mail. I try to have as many touches to the public as possible.”
Each month she also writes a column for the “Community Advocate,” offering advice on such timely topics and trends as preparing your home for the spring market, the value of hardwood floors and seasonal maintenance tips.
On her website there is a wealth of information and tools including a free market analysis, mortgage calendar and a way to sign up for free daily emails that have new and updated listings from the towns and in the price range that you choose.
There is also a section with helpful advice such as “Mistakes sellers make,” “Home buying tips,” and “Moving tips.”
Gillespie believes in using associated professionals to help market your house.
“I invest in my clients by using a professional photographer to take pictures of their home,” she said. “I will also use at times a professional stager.”
