Northborough – The Northboro Junior Woman’s Club (NJWC) has planted over 500 pinwheels at Town Hall in recognition of April’s designation as National Child Abuse Prevention Month. The effort is also in support of the “Pinwheels for Prevention” campaign created by Prevent Child Abuse America.
This awareness campaign raises funds through the sale of pinwheels to educate the public about the effects of child abuse and ways to prevent it. Pinwheels are the national symbol of child abuse and neglect prevention and represent hope and a call to action.
The NJWC is inviting all to support this initiative by creating their own pinwheel garden. Pinwheels can be purchased for $1 each through Thursday, April 30 at Craftworks, 243 West Main St., Northborough. Donations may also be made via the NJWC’s website, www.northborojuniors.org which will then be used by the group to purchase additional pinwheels for the Town Hall garden. All proceeds will be donated to the Massachusetts Citizens For Children, Prevent Child Abuse America’s state chapter.
