Northborough – The Algonquin Regional High School Tomahawks softball team defeated the Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School Aztecs by a score of 2-1 on April 24.
Algonquin scored its two runs in the third inning, with a triple by Brianna Burns, followed by an error and singles by Caty Lazo and Brianna Calder. Assabet rallied to score once in the top of the seventh inning, but was unable to catch up. Algonquin’s Allie Courtwright pitched a complete game and struck out seven in the victory, while Morgan Foster struck out five for Assabet.
Algonquin improves to 3-1 on the season while Assabet drops to 3-2.
