Obit Bob EnglundNorthborough – Robert A. “Bob” Englund, 81, of Northborough, died Friday, May 1, 2015 at the Coleman House in Northborough.

He leaves his wife of 58 years, Patricia (Mathieu) Englund, and four sons, William R. and wife Ann of Hopedale, Paul S. and wife Leana of Dallas, Texas, Robert Jr. and wife Wendy of Fredericksburg, Va., and David E. and girlfriend Allison Carlsen of Clinton; eight grandchildren, William and wife Mary Hunter, Katherine, Lily, Althea, Wyatt, Nolan, Marina, and Brendon; a step-granddaughter, Kiana, and one step-great-grandchild, Gavin; a sister, Marion Poulin and friend Bill Mossberg of New Hampshire; and a niece and two nephews.

Born June 18, 1933 in New York City, Bob was the son of Arnold and Signe (Carlson) Englund, and had lived in Northborough 55 years. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by an infant grandson, Michael.

Upon graduating from Shrewsbury High School, he was the youngest member of a survey team that worked on the construction of the Air Force Base in Thule, Greenland. He served in the Army (Army Security Agency) during the Korean Conflict.

Bob Graduated from Clark University and was employed by Meta-fil Manufacturing Company, TPS Corporation, and Crossmark, Inc. He enjoyed playing the piano, reading, and feeding the birds, and he especially cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Coleman House for their excellent care and compassion during Bob’s stay over the past year.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, May 5, from 5-8 p.m., at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Northborough. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, May 6, at 10 a.m., in St. Bernadette Church, 266 Main St., Northborough. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Howard Street Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s name to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation or to Wounded Warriors.
