Northborough – The Algonquin Regional High School Tomahawks softball team defeated the Westborough High School Rangers by a score of 4-3 in a game played May 8.
Algonquin scored three runs in the sixth inning to take a 3-2 lead in the game, only to have visiting Westborough score in the top of the seventh to tie up the game at 3-3. In the bottom of the seventh, Caty Lazo reached on an error, moved up to third base on a double by Allie Courtwright and scored on a walk-off hit by Gaby Kennedy.
Allie Courtwright pitched a complete game for Algonquin, striking out 8, while Westborough’s Victoria Zechello struck out 7. Ally Rota had 3 hits for Westborough.
Algonquin improves 8-2 on the season while Westborough drops to 2-9.
