Westborough – The Willows at Westborough will host the 22nd Annual Senior Health & Fitness Day on Wednesday, May 27. Registration begins at 9 a.m.; the program lasts until 12 noon. Held the last Wednesday of each May, National Senior Health & Fitness Day is the country’s largest annual health promotion event for older adults.
Karen McKenzie, B.S., S.F.S., director of the Personalized Exercise Program (PEP) at The Willows, manages the event. She also hosts “Seniors on the Move,” Westborough’s public access TV talk show on a wide range of topics on Channel 191.
Keynote Speaker Catherine Taglieri, Pharm.D. , registered pharmacist and assistant professor of pharmacy procedures at MCPHS University, will discuss “Managing the Maze: Prescription Drug Safety.”
Ann Pantazis, M.S., R.D., Reliant Medical Group, will speak about “Blood Pressure Basics: Updates on Nutrition & Blood Pressure Control.”
Licensed Zumba Gold® Instructor Mary Abate will round off the program with a demonstration of Zumba®, which McKenzie describes as “dance exercise well suited to beginners and older adults for staying fit and having fun.”
The free, half-day event includes blood pressure readings, balance evaluation, strength testing, mini-massages, refreshments and raffles. Visitors touring The Willows’ model apartment will receive a small gift. Seating is limited. Contact Karen McKenzie at (508) 366-4730 ext. 3577 to register.
