Local tournaments to benefit Mark Fidrych Foundation

Northborough/Shrewsbury – The Shrewsbury Little League will host the 2015 All Star Tournament Saturday, June 27, to Thursday, July 2, at Shrewsbury’s Coolidge School field, 1 Florence St. The final game is played at Dean Park, 805 Main St., Shrewsbury. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Mark Fidrych Foundation, an organization which supports children with disabilities and special needs. The tournament will feature t-shirts for sale, raffle baskets, special guests to sing the National Anthem, refreshments and visits from the Worcester Bravehearts and Buffalo Wild Wings mascots. On Saturday, Aug. 22, the Mark Fidrych Foundation will be holding its fifth annual “Make Your Mark” softball tournament at the New England Baseball Complex, Route 20, Northborough. Registration begins at 9 a.m.

Last year the foundation awarded over $48,000 in grants to area entities that enhance the lives of special needs children and adults through sports or sports related education, including the Northborough, Lancaster and Millbury Challenger Division Sports.
