Marlborough – Families flocked to the 17th annual Safe Summer Fun Day, held June 6 on the front lawn of the Marlborough Hospital. The highlight was the distribution of free children’s bicycle helmets, which were properly fitted by hospital staff. Also, eight bikes were given away throughout the day.

Educational displays included an explanation of stranger danger and sun exposure screenings with sunblock giveaways. Children got the chance to take the seat of emergency vehicles including ambulances, fire trucks and a Life Flight helicopter. Fun activities included inflatable amusements, “doctor dress up,” trackless train rides, interactive games, a karate demonstration and a barbecue.

The four-hour event was sponsored by DCU for Kids.
