Westborough baseball advances to division semi-finals

    Northborough – The number 7 seed Westborough High School Rangers baseball team defeated the number 2 seed Algonquin Regional High School Tomahawks by a score of 7-1, in a MIAA Central Division 1 quarter-final playoff game played on June 8.

    The game was scoreless until the fourth inning when Westborough rallied for 5 runs. Westborough added runs in the fifth and sixth innings as well. Dylan Kehoe had three hits, including a triple, and one RBI. Dan Lis pitched six scoreless innings for Westborough, allowing only three hits and striking out five. Nolan Kessinger hit two triples for Algonquin, including one in the seventh inning which knocked in the Tomahawks only run.

    Westborough advances to play St. Peter Marian in the MIAA Central Division 1 semi-finals. The game will be played at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, June 10 at Worcester’s Tivnan Field. Algonquin concludes their season with an overall record of 14-7.
