Shirley was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Myron P. and Josephine G. (Seeley) Ryder. Upon graduation from Shrewsbury High School, she went to work for the Bell Co. in Worcester for a short time until she married. In later years, she worked part time for Cherry & Web in Shrewsbury before retiring.
Shirley leaves her loving children, Daniel L. Cox of Northborough, Jane P. Cox of Framingham, Kathleen M. Bianchi of Shrewsbury, and Robert A. Cox of Shrewsbury; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Agnes Robbins of East Harwich; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Rigierio and Eleanor Thomas.
Although Shirley had many interests that included singing and playing piano and guitar, sewing and painting, she was happiest being at home with her family.
A private family gathering and memorial service will be held for Shirley in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home.
