Worcester—“We clean almost anything,” promises Morlu Marvie, who has owned the Duraclean cleaning service here since 1992. “In my 23 years in the business, I’ve seen just about everything.”
Marvie offers both residential and commercial cleaning services.
On the residential side, his company cleans both wall-to-wall carpeting and area rugs, including Oriental rugs; fabric and leather upholstered furniture; drapes; hardwood floors; grout and tile in bathrooms, kitchens and hallways; air ducts and dryer vents, and just about anything else. “We will even clean your mattresses and get rid of the dust mites.”
The company also offers regular maid service on a weekly or biweekly basis.
“We use environmentally-friendly cleaning supplies with no toxic chemicals,” he added.
Marvie works with many area realtors to completely clean a home before it goes on the market. “It’s important that a house be clean when buyers come in. There’s a big difference when I’m done.”
In addition, Duraclean provides clean-up and restoration services to repair water or smoke damage and remove mold after such disasters as fire or flooding.
“We can help in dealing with the insurance company,” Marvie said, “and if a customer doesn’t have insurance, we will work with them. We’re a small, family-owned business and want to help.”
The company can also do a thorough cleaning after a construction project is completed.
On the commercial side, Marvie’s company cleans offices, retail shops and apartments.
The company is located in Worcester, and serves customers in all of Worcester County and in the Metrowest area.
Marvie got his start in the cleaning business working for a carpet cleaning company and then branched out on his own, at first cleaning the homes of elderly clients of a health care agency.
He then signed up as a Duraclean franchise, impressed by the Chicago company’s line of cleaning products and its educational opportunities and training programs for franchisees. Duraclean has been in the residential and commercial cleaning business since 1930, one of the oldest companies in the field. Marvie’s sons, Brian and Morlu, Jr., work with him, and Anthony Korvah is the company’s head technician.
“I love to clean,” Marvie said with a laugh. “When you clean something and see the results, how fresh it looks, it’s just a good feeling.
“I want my customers to be happy with those results and to refer their friends and relatives.”
