Letter to Editor: Thanks to those who made the ‘Reality Check’ a reality

57

To the Editor:

On behalf of the Marlborough Rotary Club, I would like to publicly thank some folks who worked hard to make the “2015 Reality Check” on June 15 at Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School (AVRTHS) a success.

The Reality Check is an interactive, financial literacy event for the sophomore class at AVRTHS, designed to give teens a taste of reality as they begin to earn and spend their own money. Most students say that the fair is a real learning experience for them.

I initially contacted AVRTHS and Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce to take on this project many years ago; now with the help of Cathy Mogavero, the Reality Check is in its fifth year. Many of the business volunteers are Rotarians and almost all are chamber members: All Star Auto, Chinese Medicine of Marlborough, Edward Jones Financial Planning, EKG Networking, Kathleen Enderlin, Eversource, Framingham Rotary Club, Global Access Partners, InDemand Coaching, Market Basket, Marlborough Hospital, Marlborough Public Library, Marlborough Savings Bank, Marshall Insurance Agency, New England Credit Union Services, Old Navy, Redemption, Quinsigamond Community College, Remax – Executive, Shine Salon, St. Mary’s Credit Union, TD Bank, and Town of Ashland Environmental Health Department.

The Rotary Club of Marlborough, the Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce, the State Scholars Program, and the AVRTHS were the coordinating sponsors.
