Northborough – Although there was the threat of a storm, the weather held out the evening of July 9 at Ellsworth McAfee Park for the first concert of the Free Summer Concert Series organized by the Northborough Community Affairs Committee. “Beatles for Sale,” a New England-based Beatles tribute band, kept the crowd happy with popular hit songs such as “Penny Lane,” “Magical Mystery Tour,” and “When I’m 64” and even addressed the crowd in mock Liverpool accents.
The event was well attended by Northborough residents as well as many families from surrounding towns that came with their children, grandchildren and dogs. Event sponsors Marlborough Savings Bank and Carlvaho & Roth Orthodontics were busy running family-friendly booths with games, glitter tattoos and giveaways to add to the fun. Magician Eddie Raymond provided strolling entertainment. Food vendors The DogFather, Yummy Mummy Brownies, and Juniper Farms Ice Cream seemed to be busy throughout the evening supplying dinner and tasty treats to the bevy of hungry guests.
Upcoming concerts in the series will be held on the following Thursdays: July 23, Aug. 6, and Aug. 20. All shows will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. at Ellsworth McAfee Park.
The Northborough Community Affairs Committee is also hosting a Family Movie Night Thursday, Aug. 27 at the Melican Middle School. For more information and rain dates, visit the Northborough Community Affairs website: http://northboroughcac.weebly.com/index.html.
