Shrewsbury – Lake Quinsigamond has long been considered an ideal body of water for rowing competitions, hosting high school and college championships, as well as international regattas. But might the lake also be headed for Olympic glory? That may be the case if Boston does indeed win the bid to host the 2024 Olympic Games.
As organizers of Boston 2024 strategize on how other Bay State communities might fit into their proposal, some central Mass. officials have suggested that the lake host the rowing events.
The lake has previously hosted the U.S. Olympic rowing trials in 1952, the U.S. Nationals in 1979 and the U.S. Masters Nationals in 2005.
