Obit Ronald MackGrafton – Ronald G. Mack, 78, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, July 8, 2015 following a lengthy illness.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Elizabeth “Betty” (Hilyard) Mack; his sons Ronald G. Mack Jr. and Russell Mack; his daughters, Amy Mack and her husband Dr. William Fall and Alison Mack-Di Iulio and her husband Daniel J. Di Iulio; his granddaughters, Kelli and Victoria Mack; his brothers, William Mack, Jr. and David Mack; and his sisters, Dorothy Staffier and Carolyn Buehler. His sisters Barbara Gagnon and Patricia Taylor predeceased him.

Ron was born April 4, 1937 in Worcester, son of the late Irma (Johansson) and William Mack. He proudly served on the USS CASCADE as a member of the U.S. Navy. He trained in the Navy as a pipefitter/welder, which established his lifelong career, and was a member of the Pipefitters Local 4 in Worcester.

Ron was a lifelong resident of Grafton, serving as a volunteer firefighter on Ladder 1 for 10 years.

People who knew Ron will remember his unique talent for repairing anything that was broken and creating anything that his sons or network of friends desired from his garage workshop. Every Sunday you would find Ron, usually with his twin daughters, roaming the Grafton Flea Market seeking the perfect deal. He loved life even as his health declined, and his family takes solace in knowing that he passed away at home where he always loved to be.

All are invited to a memorial service for Ron Friday, July 17, at 11 a.m., at the Congregational Church of Grafton, 30 Grafton Common, followed by a reception at the Grafton Inn. Burial will be private at his family’s convenience.
