Shrewsbury – Capt. Aaron Roy of the Shrewsbury Fire Dept. released this statement this afternoon regarding a tractor trailer fire on Route 290 west:
At 12:48 pm we received a call for assistance from the Massachusetts State Police for a fully involved tractor trailer fire on 290 west just prior to exit 22. On arrival a 2010 International tractor was fully involved and the trailer had slight burn damage to its exterior. Trailer damage was minor because the driver was able to detach the trailer and drive the tractor approximately 30’ away before exiting the vehicle. Fire crews were able to extinguish the truck using foam concentrate. There were no injuries to firefighters or occupants. The incident brought traffic travel down to one lane during fire suppression activities causing a heavy traffic volume in the area. The incident was mitigated at 1:40 pm. The tractor and trailer were registered to North American van lines a moving company. The contents inside the trailer were not damaged by fire.
