Westborough – With approval at its recent congregational meeting, Beth Tikvah Synagogue in Westborough as initiated a new way of collecting membership fees based on ability to pay rather than categories of membership.

According to Beth Tikvah President EJ Dotts, the change is intended to open membership even further.

“We have always prided ourselves on removing barriers to membership, welcoming those of all backgrounds, and being open to all,” she said. “Allowing members to set their own financial commitment opens the doors even wider to all, regardless of financial situation. Everyone gives as much as they are able and no one has to ask for reduced dues.”

Beth Tikvah will hold a “Service under the Stars” at Lake Chauncey in Westborough Friday, July 24, at 7:30 p.m. (weather permitting; bring a chair or blanket). Also, an open house and barbecue will be held Sunday, Aug. 30, from 3 – 5 p.m. at the synagogue, 45 Oak St.
