Marlborough – Donald S. Bruno, 86, died Thursday, Aug, 6, 2015 after a long period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Jacqueline M. (Parker) Bruno, who died in 2010. They were married for 58 years.

He was born in Marlborough, the son of the late Damiano and Carmela (Valianti) Bruno, and lived in Marlborough most of his life.

Mr. Bruno was a graduate of Marlborough High School, class of 1946, and then went on to the North Bennett St. School in Boston, where he trained to be a watchmaker. He later went on to serve as the owner and operator of the former Bruno Jewelry of Marlborough and Acton for over 50 years.

Mr. Bruno was an active member of many local organizations. He was the former president of the Watchmaker Association of MA, a past president of the Marlborough Merchants Association, and a former member of the Bandiera Concordia Lodge of the Sons of Italy in Marlborough. He was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow as a longtime member and past president of the Marlborough Rotary Club, and served as clerk for the Board of Directors of the Marlborough Savings Bank for many years. He was also a former member of the Holy Name Society of the former St. Ann’s Church in Marlborough.

He is survived by one son, Mark D.,Bruno and his wife Elaine of Dover Plains, N.Y.; two daughters, Donna Bruno of Worcester and Lyn Ann Bruno and her husband Craig Scholpp of E. Kingston, N.H.; and four grandchildren, Brittany Tucker and her partner Joe Martinez of Hudson, Morgan Tucker and her fiancée Nicholas Vieno of Randolph, Mark Daniel Bruno Jr. and his wife EvelynAnn and their son Cayden Joseph of Upper Marlboro, Md, and Emily Rossi and her husband Andrew and their daughter Alice Rose of Rochester, N.Y. He was predeceased by six brothers, Frank, Robert, Michael, Damiano, Pasquale, and John, and three sisters, Adeline Alfuso, Concetta Sousa, and Josephine Bruno.

His funeral will be held Monday, Aug. 10, at 11 a.m., at Saint Matthias Church, 409 Hemenway St., Marlborough. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery Marlborough.
