Mindfulness Meditation Series at Westborough Public Library

141

Westborough – The Westborough Public Library will offer a four-week Mindfulness Meditation Series by Greg Topakian Tuesdays, Sept. 1, 8, 22 and 29, from 7-8:15 p.m. This four-week course will introduce mindfulness to participants, discuss the benefits it promises, and engage people in its foundational practices. Participants will practice the body scan, breath meditation, and walking meditation, and tap into kindness and compassion exercises. The focus will be on practicing these techniques, complemented by discussion of the questions that arise from these meditative experiences. Participants will gain the confidence needed to develop their own personal, at-home practice.

Greg Topakian, Ph.D., is a longtime educator and actuary. Over the past 30 years, he has balanced his professional life with daily practice of yoga and mindfulness meditation. During that period, he participated in several retreats to deepen his concentration and awareness. He has facilitated a mindfulness group in his home for the last 15 years, where people with varying levels of experience have come to practice together. Now in semi-retirement, Topakian teaches mindfulness to employees of local colleges, town governments and corporations across the state.

The program is free but registration is required. Register online at www.westboroughlib.org.
