Shrewsbury – The Spirit of Shrewsbury Fall Festival Committee has announced that Mahesh Reshamwala will be the grand marshal for the 2015 Spirit of Shrewsbury parade.
Mahesh and his wife Ketki have been married for 43 years. During their 40-plus years in Shrewsbury, they have raised two sons. In addition, they are proud grandparents of two grandchildren. Mahesh is a lifetime member of Gurjar Association and India Society of Worcester.
The town has benefited from Mahesh’s knowledge and enthusiasm. Prior to becoming an active volunteer at the senior center, he was a committee member of various groups including Shrewsbury High School accreditation, Citizen Advisory Committee, Shrewsbury Public Library, Parent Teacher organizations and many Shrewsbury High School advisory committees. Mahesh has also been a Town Meeting member.
Prior to retiring, Mahesh worked in various engineering capacities with Data General, Stratus Computer, HP and various power supply companies, such as Artesyn Technologies and Power One.
Mahesh has worn many hats since he retired. He is a certified SHINE (Serving Health Information Needs of Everyone) counselor for Medicare-related health insurance as well as public benefits. He also is a mentor, a tax preparer, and a computer administrator for the Senior Center. He is a board member of Council on Aging (COA).
Helping others has been Mahesh’s way of life. Having served as a certified SHINE counselor for about eight years, he has helped more than 500 individuals in Shrewsbury and Rutland make the best decision when choosing Medicare health plans.
Sharing his technological know-how, Mahesh has taught the use of computers and its various applications to senior citizens through class room instruction and one-on-one tutoring. He was instrumental in setting up and maintaining the computers in the Shrewsbury Senior Center for use by Shrewsbury senior citizens.
Mahesh goes above and beyond to help those in need find solutions to their problems. As a COA board member, he sowed the seed for the accreditation process for the senior center. He was a force behind using My Senior Center Program which will help the Shrewsbury Senior Center prepare various reports and print labels for mailing senior center newsletters. It will also enhance the scheduling of activities at the senior center.
