Kane to host Charity Classic golf tournament

Shrewsbury/Westborough– State Rep. Hannah Kane (R-Shrewsbury) will be hosting her first annual charity golf tournament Monday, Aug. 17 at the Haven Country Club, 369 Cross St, Boylston.

According to Kane, “Service to others has always been a driving force in my life, ingrained in me by my parents and grandparents. The opportunity to have a greater impact on the lives of others is one of the primary reasons I sought this office, and I am excited to host this Inaugural Hannah Kane Charity Classic (HKCC). I am humbled by the generosity of our sponsors, the dedication of our Host Committee and I will continue to support local charities that my predecessors, former representatives (Matthew) Beaton and (Karyn) Polito also championed.”

The tournament will benefit three local charities:

• St. Anne’s Human Services, which assists the poor and needy in the local community with food and clothing,

• Shrewsbury Youth and Family Services, which is a private, non-profit community counseling and social services agency,

• Westborough Food Pantry, which serves families in need a good array of nutritious food to supplement their own resources.

The schedule of events is as follows:

• 9 a.m. – registration and continental breakfast,

• 10:30 a.m. – shotgun start,

• BBQ luncheon served on the golf course,

• 3:30 p.m. – 19th hole reception,

• 5 p.m. – awards program and raffle drawings – raffle tickets sold and raffle open until 5 p.m. Shrewsbury Board of Selectman Jim Kane will serve as emcee.

The 19th Hole Reception will feature silent and live auctions as well as delicious food and a cash bar. Auction items to be on the look-out for include:

• A round of golf at Trump National in Westchester, New York,

• Four tickets to the Deutsche Bank Championship,

• Painting of the 18th at Harbortown, one of a four piece set titled “The Big Time Suite”,

• Many gift certificates from local restaurants, boutiques, shops and services.
