Obit Emma Lou WestMarlborough/Hudson – Emma Lou (Matthews) West, 78, resident of the Marlborough and Hudson area, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015. She was the widow of George D. West, who passed away in 1982.

Mrs. West was born Sept. 19, 1936 in Rochelle, Ga., the daughter of the late Arthur J. and Georgia Lou (Walton) Matthews. She spent most of her childhood in Plant City, Fla. prior to moving to Marlborough. She last worked at Bear-in-mind of Concord, retiring in the 1980s.

She leaves behind three sons, George West and his wife Fatima of Marlborough, Orlando West of Waltham, and Marcos West and his wife Genny of Leominster, as well as five grandchildren. She also leaves two brothers, Otis Matthews and Joseph Matthews, both of Boston.

Mrs. West was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness of Northborough. She enjoyed spending time at the beach in addition to challenging herself with puzzles and spending time with a good book. Her friendly smile was memorable to all who met her.

A graveside service will take place Friday, Aug. 21, at 11 a.m., in the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Bedford Street, Concord.
