Southborough – Alfred R. Collotta, 85, of Southborough and a longtime resident of Framingham, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015 surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Dorothy (Patti) Collotta for over 59 years.

Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Samuel and Marianna (Piscatello) Collotta. He was a 1948 graduate of Framingham High School, had remained an active member of the class, and was on all of the reunion committees.

He owned and operated Collotta’s Barber Shop on Hartford Street in Framingham for over 65 years. He loved being a barber, but his greatest joy was his family.

He was a member of the Framingham Columbus Club, the Knights of Columbus, and St. Matthew’s Church of Southborough, and formerly was a member of St. Tarcisius Church of Framingham.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Ellen Armbruster and her husband Neil of Stratford, Conn., Steven Collotta and his wife Joy of West Dennis, Alfred A. Collotta and his wife Christine of Shrewsbury, and Peter Collotta and his wife Victoria of Framingham; his brother, Anthony Collotta and his wife Carmella of Framingham; his grandchildren, Gregory and Christopher, Jennifer, Jaclyn, and Vincent; and his great-grandson, Joseph. He was predeceased by a brother, Ray, and a sister, Mary.

At the request of the family there will be no calling hours. A funeral Mass will be held Monday, Sept. 14, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Matthew Church, 26 Highland St., Southborough. Burial will follow in St. Tarcisius Cemetery of Framingham. Arrangements are under the direction of the Morris Funeral Home of Southborough.
