Hollywood, Fla. – Sara (Hickox) Donayre of Hollywood, Fla., formerly of Westborough, lost her three-year valiant battle with pulmonary fibrosis Friday, Aug. 7, 2015. She was 73.

She was born Oct. 31, 1941 in Boston, the daughter of the late Attorney Harold L. Hickox Jr. and Dorothy (Stevens) Hickox. After graduating from Cushing Academy in 1959, she received her RN degree from the former Framingham Union Hospital School of Nursing in 1962 and a Bachelor of Science from Boston University in 1964.

Sara worked in numerous medical clinics in New Jersey and Peru and closed her career in Hollywood, Fla. working as a Workers Compensation Case Manager for several Insurance Companies, later creating her own business.

During her 49 years of marriage to Dr. Jose Donayre, formerly of the Worcester Foundation for Experimental Biology in Shrewsbury, they resided in Westfield, N.J. and Peru before retiring to Hollywood, Fla.

They traveled extensively through much of Europe and the United States. Sara and Pepe have many wonderful memories of their life together; however, this is one journey Sara is taking by herself.

Sara touched many lives and served on the Hollywood Lakes Civic Association Board and the Bromeliad Societies of Broward County and South Florida and on the Board of the Bromeliad Society International for many years. Always willing to assist others, she was dedicated to her community. She played an integral role in the planning of her 50th class reunion at Cushing Academy.

In addition to her husband, Dr. Jose “Pepe” Donayre, she leaves her daughter, Diana Remlinger and her husband, Mark of Cohasset; her son, Daniel of Mankato, Minn. and his companion Jessica Niemela; her granddaughter, Mila of Mankato, Minn.; her brother, Jeffrey P. Hickox of Worcester; and many close friends and family in Westfield, N.J., Hollywood, Fla., and Peru. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Harold L. Hickox III.

Funeral services were private.
