Worcester – Brendan J. Flaherty, 51, died Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015 after being stricken ill recently.

He was born in Boston, the son of late Edward J. Flaherty and Marilyn (Portanova) MacQuarrie of Clinton. He was the stepson of Allan H. MacQuarrie of Clinton. He lived most of his life in Marlborough and Worcester.

Brendan attended Marlborough schools and graduated from Valencia College, class of 1992, with a degree in Media Graphics and Print. He went on to work as a printer for many different companies in this area.

Besides his mother and stepfather, he is survived by his fiancée, Christine Orth of Worcester; three brothers, Edward J. Flaherty and his wife Barbara of Clinton, Jeffrey MacQuarrie of Vero Beach, Fla., and Allan M. MacQuarrie and his wife Jill of Danielson, Conn.; four sisters, Tammy Morgan and her husband Michael of Seattle, Wash., Jody MacQuarrie of Natick, Robin McGrath and her husband Daniel of Weymouth, and Christine Holyoak and her husband Kevin of Maui Hawaii; and many aunts, uncles and nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held Friday, Sept. 18, at 10 a.m., in Saint Matthias Church, 409 Hemenway St., Marlborough. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery of Marlborough. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, Sept. 17, from 5-8 p.m., in the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home (www.shortfuneral.com), 95 West Main St. Marlborough.
