Northborough – The Algonquin Regional High School Tomahawks and Shrewsbury High School Colonials boys and girls soccer teams were both active in a doubleheader played Sept. 17.
In the first game of the evening, the Algonquin girls defeated Shrewsbury by a score of 4-0. Algonquin goals were scored by Kate Hostage, Caroline McAndrews, Caroline Leonard, and Chloe Bernier. The Algonquin girls improve to a 3-0 season record, while Shrewsbury falls to 0-3.
In the nightcap, the Algonquin and Shrewsbury boys played to a 2-2 tie in a thriller. Algonquin’s Max Michaud started off the scoring with a goal in the first half, and Shrewsbury’s Cameron Morris responded with a goal to tie score at 1-1. Algonquin regained the lead in the second half on a goal by Evan Carpinella. In the 73rd minute, Shrewsbury’s Kameron Kristen scored to tie the game once again. Algonquin season record is now 1-1-1, while Shrewsbury’s is 0-1-3.
