Obit David CrayNorthborough – David Henry Cray passed peacefully Monday, Sept. 21, 2015 at UMass University Medical Center, with his devoted wife Patricia and his daughter Courtney by his side.

David is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Patricia Cray of Northborough, and his daughter, Courtney Cray of Leicester. He is also survived by his younger sister, Kathleen (Sue) Durham and her husband Steve of North Carolina, and his younger brother, Patrick Cray and his wife Susan of Vermont, as well as his Aunt Anna Mae Kelly of Virginia; grandchildren Jonathan and Jennifer Cray of Grafton; many cousins, nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Mary Smith of Vermont; sister-in-law Mary Emerson and her husband Tedric of New York; brother-in-law Edward Smith and his wife Laurel of New Hampshire; and many more family members. He was predeceased by his parents, Kathryn and Henry Cray of Vermont; son Jason Cray of South Carolina; and older brothers Laurence Cray of New Hampshire and Michael Cray of North Carolina.

David was a graduate of Bellows Falls High School (Bellows Falls, Vermont), a member of the class of 1967. He went on to the University of Masachusetts-Amherst, class of 1973 graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing. He then went on to work for American Precast of Framingham and for PRO Equipment Rental/PRO Companies of Waltham.

David was a big fan of all New England sports teams, especially the Boston Red Sox and the Patriots. He also was a dedicated follower of his Alma Mater UMass Minuteman basketball and football, often relying on the radio to listen to games or streaming on his computer if coverage lacked. He was an avid golfer in his younger years and truly enjoyed watching all the tournaments to this day.

David was a family man, a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend to all. His smile and fun-loving personality will be missed for sure.

A funeral Mass is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 3, at 11 a.m., at St. Rose of Lima Church, 244 West Main St. in Northborough. Hays Funeral Home of Northborough is directing arrangements.
