Shrewsbury – The 19th annual Spirit of Shrewsbury Fall Festival Parade featured a record high number of 100 marching units travelling the 1.1-mile route downtown Sept. 27.
Honored as grand marshal was Mahesh Reshamwala, riding in style in a 1971 Pontiac LeMans Sport convertible with his wife, Ketki. He’s an active volunteer at the Shrewsbury Senior Center and life member of the India Society of Worcester. Other parade participants included town and state officials, and representatives of scout troops, schools, youth sports teams, nonprofit organizations and businesses, and vintage and classic vehicles.
A special viewing area was stationed in front of the Town Hall for parade spectators over age 90 and their guests. Following the parade, they attended an Over 90 Tribute Tea with entertainment provided by the belly dance troupe Silver Moon Gypsies at the senior center.
