Westborough – Ideal autumn weather Sept. 26 contributed to a successful seventh annual Arts in Common presented by the Westborough Cultural Council at the Bay State Green. Throughout the six-hour arts festival, 22 acts of all ages performed music, dance, theater, comedy and poetry on two stages. Over 35 artisans displayed and sold handcrafted items. Refreshments were available from local eateries.
Returning for the seventh year as emcee on the bandstand was WBUR radio producer and reporter Lynn Jolicoeur, a 1987 Westborough High School (WHS) alum, who now lives in Shrewsbury. An additional stage was stationed outdoors in a tent with WHS students Ben Hensley and Chris LaMountain as co-emcees for the second year.
Other WHS students assisted in various capacities including the Kids Corner with pumpkin painting and glitter tattoos. A silent auction helped the Westborough Cultural Council continue to offer the region’s only free arts festival.
Once again supporting Arts in Common were its founding sponsors: Marlborough Savings Bank, Roche Brothers, EMSEAL Joint Systems Ltd., Amica Insurance, and Dr. and Mrs. Richard Irwin. Corporate sponsors were Barbara Cantwell of Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc., CrossFit Prototype and Price Chopper.
